Elm Charcoal Rug

Charcoal takes the bouclé weave somewhere more graphic, the dark wool showing every loop and slub in relief along with the contrast stitching at the border. It is a plain rug in colour only; the surface is anything but smooth. Good in a room with pale walls, where it reads as a deliberate dark anchor on the floor.

Part of the Elm collection — hand-woven in India from wool and viscose in a chunky bouclé flatweave, 14mm thick overall, with loops of varied size giving a deliberately uneven surface. A dhurrie-inspired border and fine stitch detail frame each rug, and a latex backing holds the weave steady.
