Oakley Straw Rug

Straw keeps the jute close to how it comes off the plant, a dry golden fibre with all its natural variation left in, braided into ropey coils across the whole rug. It is the most honest of the three and the one that does most for a room of white walls, wood and plants.

Part of the Oakley collection — hand woven in India from braided jute with cotton and polyester, laid over a cotton backing to give an 18mm flatweave with no pile at all. The braiding gives the surface a plaited, ropey grain and a softer handle than jute usually manages.
